How to Deeply Nourish Yourself:

What does it mean to nourish yourself?

It is so important to deeply nourish ourselves during this time on Earth. I just returned from a week away and was nourished by swimming and floating in the warm sea. I didn't realize how much I needed to just be still, to fill my cup and immerse in nature.

Being able to receive nourishment is key!

This orientation is about opening on a physical, cellular and energetic level. Taking time to open and smell the roses, eat nourishing whole foods, slow down and open the heart. In our current world there are so many ways we can become depleted and distracted without even realizing it. When we are nourished, we can give and are excited to share our gifts.

We all know what it is like to feel burned out or tired. It’s important not to let it get to that point and build our reserves. If we can implement daily, enjoyable practices for deep nourishment into our lives, we will be not only healthier, but more joyful overall.

Though extra rest and eating well are important - there are much deeper aspects of nourishment we need on a physical, soul and spiritual level.

Ayurveda, talks about bringing nourishment deep into our tissues and the marrow in our bones. There is a Sanskrit term "Ojas" that is translated as the "essence of vitality" which is the vital energy for our immunity, strength and happiness. It is the nectar of life. In the Andes, I learned from the medicine people to work with receiving "Sami" - the refined life force energy that is available to turn heavy energy to light in order to replenish ourselves.

Nourishing ourselves is all about deeply receiving love, energy, fostering healthy habits, and cherishing your body.

So how exactly do we open the gateways to Nourish ourselves deeply?

Though there are practices we can do, cultivating a receiving orientation where energy can flow in... is key.

As we know it is not what we do but how we do it.

Here are just a few simple ways you can bring more nourishment in your life:

  • Nourish your joints through movement, which helps bring lubrication to your body. Circling our ankles, wrists and hips daily. Dancing and moving are great!

  • The Ayurvedic practice of Abhyanga. Use some warm oil and rub into your body for 5 minutes daily before having a shower.

  • Eating nourishing soups and organic whole foods.

  • Drinking warm water and herbal tea throughout the day.

  • Working with flower essences and essential oils, particularly rose.

  • Taking time to smell the flowers and natures’ scents, deeply inhaling their fragrance.

  • Get creative through art, writing, music and song.

  • Spending time in nature, meditating and receiving the beauty and energy around you.

  • Get sunlight on your eyes and skin at sunrise and sunset.

  • Spend time in community and nourishing relationships.

  • Pause throughout the day and be open to receive.

What is your favorite way to nourish yourself?

One of my favorite ways to feel nourished is to show up for my spiritual growth, especially in sisterhood.

That is why I am excited to share a really nourishing and profound series for women that is coming up on
February 12th. “Journey Into Our Sacred Temple: Rose Attunement” with Eva Blum and myself.

In a collaborative conversation Rose came forward offering to nourish more women. This is an opportunity to work with rose for 6 weeks for nourishment, healing, creativity and activating your divine feminine priestess. We are excited to have you on this journey if you feel called. It really is going to be amazing to immerse in the healing and love of Rose.

Also, my dear friend Sarah Kruse of Embrace Ayurveda is hosting a Metabolic and Lifestyle Reset coming up next week. She brings so much nourishment into the reset and her health coaching sessions, so you can bring in a whole new relationship to food, your body and self."
